Mickel is a Latin American activist with over 10 years of experience in nonprofits. He co-founded one of the largest arts/youth development nonprofits in the Caribbean region and created its marquee event, The National Poetry Slam of Trinidad and Tobago, which is the largest Spoken Word event in the Caribbean. His outreach initiatives have spanned eight countries, and at times was fortunate to conduct and support programming that reached over 60,000 people annually. In addition to his nonprofit work, Mickel also ventured in the media space, co-founding a social advertising media business, and his own wedding photography practice. His dedication and contributions have earned him recognition, including the prestigious 2022 Commonwealth Youth Award for the Caribbean region.
