Jennifer (Jen) Caldwell (she/her) is a Quaker, theologian, writer, activist, and Executive Director of Beacon Hill Friends House. Jen joined the BHFH staff as Program Manager in 2020 after becoming involved with the community in 2017, and has served as Executive Director since 2023.
Originally from California, Jen found her way to Quakerism through years of theological study and organizing. She holds a Master of Theological Studies from Vanderbilt Divinity School and bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from George Fox University, where she helped found the university's first LGBTQ+ student organization. Before joining BHFH, she worked in advocacy around human rights, the public interest, and the environment.
Jen is passionate about theology, organizational leadership, and building communities where people can wrestle honestly with difficult questions while growing together.
Outside of BHFH, Jen is a member of Beacon Hill Friends Meeting, serves on the boards of Thee Quaker Project, Pendle Hill, and Friends Mutual Health Group, writes for Barclay Press's Illuminate Bible study series, and volunteers with the Boston Debate League.
