About the directions:

The walking and driving directions are significantly different because of the narrow one way streets on Beacon Hill.
And Beacon Hill is really a hill so Up and Down are literal directions, if the ground is flat, I said "Along".

Parking

Parking on Beacon Hill is severely restricted for non-residents. The rules tend to be enforced. So, it is recommended that you park in the Boston Common Garage which can be accessed from Charles Street as it passes through the Common. (Reduced rate stickers for evenings and weekends are available at the House.) More detailed directions to the right.

Driving

A city full of one-way streets can also be a city where once you get there, you need a very different set of directions to get back! Walking, public transportation and cabs are all recommended.
